1. TITLE OF THE PROJECT

“A STUDY ON CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS FOR ERP IMPLEMENTATION IN A COMPANY” (A CASE STUDY OF BENOVELLIENT TECHNOLOGIES)

  1. INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY

“Enterprise Resource Planning: An accounting oriented information system for identifying and planning the enterprise-wide resources to make ship and account for customer orders.” Basically, an ERP combines several traditional management functions into a logical integrated system and facilitate flow of information across these functions. It is designed to model and automate basic processes across the organization over a centralized database and eliminates the need of disparate systems maintained by various units of the organization.

The critical success factors of ERP systems mainly include proper implementation and usage. Beside this there are several other factors that decide the regular functioning of ERP in organizations. While many organizations have not incurred the necessary benefit in terms of money and other measures there are lots who have witnessed multiple profits. Studying them will help in understanding the critical success factors for ERP implementation. They will help in deciding ERP success. Enterprise Resource Planning is IT software that integrates business activities across an enterprise from product planning, parts purchasing, inventory control, and product distribution, to order tracking. ERP is a key backbone application for companies in fast changing industry technologies.

ADVANTAGES OF ERP:

In the absence of an ERP system, a large manufacturer may find itself with many software applications that cannot communicate or interface effectively with one another. Tasks that need to interface with one another may involve:

  • Integration among different functional areas to ensure proper communication, productivity and efficiency
  • Design billing (how to best make the services)
  • Order tracking, from acceptance through fulfillment
  • The revenue cycle, from invoice through cash receipt
  • Managing inter-dependencies of complex processes bill of materials
  • Tracking the three-way match between purchase orders (whatwas ordered), inventory receipts (what arrived), and costing(what the vendor invoiced)
  • The accounting for all of these tasks: tracking the revenue, cost and profit at a granular level.

  1. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

Methodology:             Primary Data

 Research Design

Research design is a research plan which requires that what data is to be collected, what research techniques and instruments are to be used, how a sample is to be selected, and how information is to be collected from this sample.

A research design specifies the methods and procedures for conducting a particular study.  Broadly speaking, research design can be grouped into three categories-exploratory research, descriptive research, and causal research.

Research Instrument:

Descriptive research is used in this project report in order to understand the evolving competitive environment, a study on critical success factors for ERP implementation in a company. The method will be used following

  • Questionnaire method.
  • Direct Interaction with the users.
  • Data collection.

NUMBER OF RESPONDENT:     100

METHOD YOU WILL USE TO CLASSIFY DATA:

Primary Data: – The sources of Primary data will be taken from Personal interviews and Questionnaire.

Secondary Data: – The sources of secondary data will be taken from Internet and books.

METHOD YOU WILL USE TO PRESENT DATA

  • Questionnaire
  • Pie Charts
  • Bar Graphs

 STASTICAL TOOLS:

MS-EXCEL will use to prepare pie- charts and graphs and MS-WORD will use to prepare or write the whole project report.

Data Analysis & Interpretation – Classification & tabulation transforms the raw data collected through questionnaire in to useful information by organizing and compiling the bits of data contained in each questionnaire i.e., observation and responses are converted in to understandable and orderly statistics are used to organize and analyze the data.

  • Simple tabulation of data using tally marks.
  • Calculating the percentage of the responses.

Formula used = (no. of responses / total responses) * 100
