TITLE OF THE PROJECT

COLLEGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

OBJECTIVES

As this is a project of ‘COLLEGE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM’ which deals with the various tasks related to college but this system is computerized. So, we call it web based application. However, this is far better than manual existing system which was time and money consuming system. Along with this, there was too much workload over a single person but one person can handle the problems of many people within a small interval of time.

Following are the benefits for using College Management System: –

For Employees:
• Easy to create any kind of certificate.
• Easy to query all related details of student and employee.
• Easy to generate payroll of individual employee.
For College:
• Collective records of students of all the branches
• Collective records of employees of all departments.
• Easy approach to find the detail information for any student/employee.
• Easy to handle all functionality of college.
• Easy to manage all actions (generating attendance report, fee report etc).
• All information can be synchronized in one place. And distribute to a particular department to manage properly.
• CMS is beneficial for both students/employees only in the way that they can get all previous or current information’s then they need.
• It is helpful to maintain the students record (admission record, fees record, marks records etc).
• Teacher does not maintain the file, documentation, reports (class Wise, section wise).

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The project titled as “College Management System “is a web based application. It shows the main details about the college. The main aim in developing campus management system is to provide an easy way not only to automate all functionalities of a college, but also to provide full functional reports to top management of college with the finest of details about any aspect of college.
We are committed to bring the best way of management in the various forms of Campus management system. We understand that campus management system in not a product to be sold, it is a bridge between the College and Students.
So we can say the Core purpose of designing “College Management System” is to manage the task related to the college students/employees and to reduce time to searching of appropriate candidates in college view.
For security point of view the login window content password so that no body can access the records. As we are using Java as a front end language so there are no issues regarding security at every level.

METHODOLOGY AND TOOLS USED

Advent of computers in the last two decades, every organization is going under the process of computerization. The computerization has many benefits. Primarily, a computer is helpful in four major aspects of any kind of organization:
Time Efficiency
Cost Effective
Huge data storage capacity and
Simple operation

Moreover, with the advent of the Internet technologies, World have changed lot call it the social web. Through the dot COM bubble and bust, one trend has never wavered. Every year, millions more people around the world are using the internet to interact in more ways then ever before to date, find old classmates, check on medical elements and cures, to read and express alternative views of the news, and even to give live sales help online, and in so many other areas.

We have several alternative suggestions about the project category like: desktop application, web-based application, OOPs application, Networking, RDBMS etc. Out of available one we have opted Web based application based on client server architecture. The proposed system falls into the category of Multimedia. A web based system has two types of pages one is static web pages and another are dynamic web pages, which are saved on web server and can be seen by sending request to web server through HTTP protocol.

Static web pages: – Static web pages are easy to spot sometimes we can pick them out by just looking at the content of the page. The content (text, images, hyperlinks, and so on) and appearance of static web pages is always the same regardless of who visits the page, or how and when they arrive at the page, or any other factors.

Dynamic web pages: – The dynamic web pages are web pages, which we can interact like a time is shown on the page or we are sending information through web form, online chat, sending mail on net etc all the action this action performed with the help of dynamic web pages.

Web Server: – Web server are software that manage web pages and make them available to client browser via local network or over the internet. In the case of the internet, the web server and browser are usually on two different machines, possibly many miles apart. However, in a local situation you can set up machine that runs the web server software, and then use a browser on the same machine to look at its web pages.
