1. Understanding the significance of a Project Report<\/div>\n
Many learners underestimateThe significance of a project report and<\/div>\n
make a mistake of thinking that excellent<\/div>\n
marks can be scored by simply producin<\/div>\n
g a good lay-out. This is fundamentally not<\/div>\n
the case as many projects are graded<\/div>\n
well below their Potential because of an<\/div>\n
indifferent or poor write-up. In order to<\/div>\n
acquire the right Balance, a learner should<\/div>\n
consider the aim behind making a good project.<\/div>\n
It provides the opportunity for a learner to de<\/div>\n
monstrate independence and originality, to plan<\/div>\n
and organize the project work, and to put into<\/div>\n
practice some of the techniques a learner has<\/div>\n
been taught throughout the program.<\/div>\n
2. Meaning of a Project<\/div>\n
The word project actually means something that comes before anything else is done.<\/div>\n
A project can be defined as a temporary Endeavour<\/div>\n
undertaken to achieve a particular aim or it<\/div>\n
is a study of factual information for comprehend<\/div>\n
ing and applying the various concepts of the<\/div>\n
course into practice. In simple words, a pr<\/div>\n
oject can be understood as mentioned under :<\/div>\n
i) It is a practice of verifica<\/div>\n
tion or demonstration of concepts<\/div>\n
or hypotheses or processes<\/div>\n
learnt.<\/div>\n
ii) It is also a technique of self-learning,<\/div>\n
learning by doing. It has a practical value.<\/div>\n
iii) The purpose of project is not to generalize<\/div>\n
but to study the situatio<\/div>\n
n with a practical<\/div>\n
orientation.<\/div>\n
3. Application of Research Methodology to Project Work<\/div>\n
SCDL allows learners to take up any topic of<\/div>\n
their interest and choice for project work. For<\/div>\n
example, the learners one year program (PGD<\/div>\n
RM\/PGDSCM) should carry out their project<\/div>\n
work only in the functional areas .Learners shou<\/div>\n
ld select topics from their area of choice.<\/div>\n
Although an illustrative list of the<\/div>\n
topics is being given at the end in order to give an idea about<\/div>\n
project topics or titles of the pr<\/div>\n
oject, learners are nevertheless advised not to restrict themselves<\/div>\n
only to the topics specified. SCDL gives liber<\/div>\n
ty to choose any topic relevant to a learner\u2019s<\/div>\n
specialization.<\/div>\n

Consult experts in the field to make a right choice of the subject.<\/div>\n

appearing in dailies, weekly, monthly<\/div>\n
magazines to look for a desired topic.<\/div>\n

Discussions with the relevant firm<\/div>\n
may help select a proper topic.<\/div>\n

A critical eye can help you spot<\/div>\n
the right topic for your project.<\/div>\n
6. Project Proposal<\/div>\n
Once the learner decides the Project topic, he\/she<\/div>\n
should prepare a proposal as per the format<\/div>\n
given in the next page. This format should be<\/div>\n
considered as ANNEXURE 1 of the Project report<\/div>\n
by the learners. The Proposal should not be more than 5 to 6 pages<\/div>\n
In other words, the project proposal need not be sent separately.<\/div>\n

Fonts : Times New Roman, 12 font size, \u20181.5\u2019 spacing<\/div>\n
\u00be<\/div>\n
Margin : Left 35 mm, Right 20mm, Top 35mm, Bottom 20mm<\/div>\n

Binding : Rexin Black Bound or Plastic & spiral bound<\/div>\n
\u00be<\/div>\n
First (Preliminary) page should have the following information:<\/div>\n
i) Top : The Title in BLOCK CAPITALS<\/div>\n
ii) Centre : Full name of the student in<\/div>\n
Capital letters & Registration Number<\/div>\n
iii) Bottom : Name of the Institute (i.e. SCDL),<\/div>\n
in Block Capitals, and the Academic year<\/div>\n
9. Instructions for the preparation of hard copy of the Project Report<\/div>\n
Learners should note the following important points regarding project work :<\/div>\n
1) The title of the project report should not be<\/div>\n
the same as the objectives, as there can be<\/div>\n
more than one objective for a particular study.<\/div>\n
2) Each objective will have at least<\/div>\n
one or more findings and suggestions.<\/div>\n
3) Each objective must have relevant questi<\/div>\n
ons in the questionnaire and\/or interview<\/div>\n
schedule.<\/div>\n
4) Learner must ensure adequate coverage of<\/div>\n
the topic in general and objectives in<\/div>\n
particular.<\/div>\n
5) Colored figures\/diagrams\/graphs\/tables w<\/div>\n
ill add value to the presentation of the<\/div>\n
report. Every table and diagrammatic<\/div>\n
representation should<\/div>\n
have a serial number<\/div>\n
and a caption.<\/div>\n
6) All project reports are to be sent by post or<\/div>\n
delivered personally at the address of<\/div>\n
SCDL main campus. Learners should submit the draft of the project report to the<\/div>\n
Project Guide before the final submission<\/div>\n
and make the necessary changes,<\/div>\n
corrections as suggested by the guide.<\/div>\n
7) Project report should be of minimum 30pag<\/div>\n
es hard copy for all one year programs.<\/div>\n
(Not applicable for PGDID programs.)<\/div>\n
8) Learners have to strictly follow the dead<\/div>\n
line for submission of the project report.<\/div>\n
Project reports received afte<\/div>\n
r the deadline will not be evaluated.<\/div>\n
Important Note<\/div>\n
(a) For one year programs, project report must<\/div>\n
be submitted within three months after<\/div>\n
completion of the second semester.<\/div>\n
(b) While sending the project report to Symb<\/div>\n
